When Prince Kadar Hamad learns the ancient sword stolen from
his father's palace has been traced to a shop in Seawind, California,
he goes there to reclaim it. As he questions the owner, Faith
Webb, he's surprised by his attraction to this woman he thinks
is dealing in stolen goods.
The last person Faith should allow into her orderly world is
Kadar, a man who asks disturbing questions. From the moment
he walks into her shop, he sets her unruly imagination dreaming,
and expands her paranormal abilities.
Their quest for the magical sword plunges them into a world
of danger and intrigue, and a trek across the burning, shifting
sands of the Sahara Desert. As passion grows between these two
strong-willed people, they learn that love can fill the empty
deserts of their hearts.

"If you?ve never understood the appeal of being
swept away by a handsome desert sheik, you?ve never come across
Kadar Ben Hamad, the fascinating hero of Barbara Clark?s DESERTS
OF THE HEART. While certainly tall, dark and handsome, his intelligence,
self-confidence, strength of will, and honor prove far more
seductive to Faith?well, that and those mind-blowing ?what was
my name again?? kisses." ...
"Adventure and intrigue abound as Kadar and Faith
search for the missing sword even as they seek to evade capture,
work to stop an assassination and attempt to suppress the overwhelming
desire pulling them ever closer. Nicely paced, original dialogue
and fresh narrative with flashes of humor balance the dynamic
action-oriented scenes.
Leave the winter blues behind and immerse yourself
in this delightfully romantic desert fantasy."
What reviewers are saying...
Just when I thought Barbara Clark couldn't top
her last book, TOUCH OF FIRE, she comes out with my all time
favorite book DESERTS OF THE HEART. Get ready for a drop dead
gorgeous hero and a fabulous heroine whose electrifying chemistry
will hold you spellbound the minute you start reading page one
right up to the mega exciting ending to-die-for. There was no
way I could stop reading this pulse pounding book that rivals
any desert prince story you've ever read. It's a heady adventure
filled with danger, a sexual heat that will scorch you, out-of-this-world
compelling characters, and a dynamite plot. Wow, I'm exhausted
after reading all day but do I ever have a smile on my face
as I'm thinking what a fantastic paranormal tale Ms. Clark has
conjured up for her readers. You don't want to miss this one,
or for that matter, any of Ms. Clark's superb stories.

Faith Webb has a store in southern California
called The Deserts of the Heart where she sells Native American
art and other exotic art, clothing and knives from around the
world. One day Nicholas Kadar Ben Hamad, son of the Arabian
Sultan of Duraza, comes into her store on the pretense of looking
for a gift for his friend Hawk Adams when he's really searching
for the special Sword of Light that had been stolen from Duraza
twenty-five years ago. He's been told the trail leads to her.
If he doesn't find it his father will die.
Faith knows nothing of this sword and tells him
so. However some other men are after the same sword which leads
to a fight in Faith's store with Kadar coming to her rescue.
This is only the beginning folks. Kadar is mighty taken with
this beautiful woman with auburn locks and matching spirit and
he takes her to Michael and Summer's house for protection until
Hawk Adams can protect Faith's home and store with a security
system. I loved meeting all these old friends from prior books
too.
Faith and Kadar are very much attracted to one
another (Ahem, and apparently Kadar sparks Faith's psychic abilities
into action as well as a huge amount of sexual attraction and
high tension). They are two people who are strong and independent
as they have both suffered difficult family backgrounds. When
Faith checks with her mother to see what she might know about
the Sword she is unsettled by what she learns about herself
and a legend of The Chosen One. She quickly leaves the country
while Kadar is on a business trip and is on her way to Egypt.
All hell breaks loose when Kadar follows her
to Egypt and they both travel together over the desert to find
the Sword of Light. Believe me, it's a very dangerous trip filled
with intrigue and their psychic abilities that keeps you on
edge as enemies who would kill them in the blink of an eye surround
them. Added to everything else they are falling in love, a situation
that seems impossible because of secrets held back, and they
are on opposite sides. Will true love win out? One thing is
for sure, Faith can't keep her eyes off Kadar's exotic good
looks for long. (Me either!) And his kisses, now that's a whole
other story. I must confess I fell in love with this guy myself.
Yum! Being under his protection is the ultimate gift to Faith,
and she is quite a little spitfire herself as she comes to Kadar's
aid more than once. The story is fast-paced with non-stop excitement
from every quarter as I found myself racing to the smashing
ending.
